Weekly Message from Head of School 2024/5/6-2024/5/10
Dear Keystonians,
Tonight, most of our 4th through 10th graders are returning home from their ELP trips. In addition to a bag full of laundry, they will bring lots of amazing experiences back with them. They will be transformed by this intensive time traveling with their teachers and classmates.
Of course you have missed them, but they may not be able to recount the whole trip tonight—they will be exhausted!
Some things parents, teachers, friends or siblings can ask (once they wake up) besides, “how was it? Or “What did you learn?”
· What is something you learned about [insert city] that you think wouldn’t be in a guidebook?
· What was something that surprised you on your ELP?
· Who is a classmate that you learned more about?
· Next time you go back to [insert city name] what is something you’d want to do/see again?
· What’s something you did this week that you don’t want to do again soon?
· Did you learn anything new about any of your teachers?
· What was the funniest thing that happened on a bus/train/plane?
· If you were planning the ELP next year, what would you do to make it better?
· If you were going to write a thank you note to one person who made the trip possible, who would it be to and what would you say? (maybe have them write that note!)
· What was the hardest thing about the trip for you?
The students will all get chances to reflect on the school trips, but it will be great for other people in their lives to begin the process with them at home and re-connect with them after their time away.
Warmly,
Emily
