It all started 10 years ago with a single note. A promise to create a new model of education drawing from Chinese, Western, and international traditions, rooted in China but resonating out into the world. While the founders of Keystone knew how important it was that their vision ring out loud and true, they also knew that it was merely the tonic of a much grander scale that had yet to be played. Looking back a decade later, it has been truly amazing to witness the mesmerizing symphony that has unfolded as the hopes and dreams for a new world school have come to fruition. As the years have passed, the Keystone community has grown with those who share this vision for the future of education, creating unexpected new connections around China and the world as each person adds their own inflection to the harmony of the concerto.

Ten years ago, a group of educators from around the world gathered in Beijing, China to establish an ideal school that draws on the best of different educational traditions, rooted in China but with a global vision – a world school.
Based on this common educational ideal, outstanding teachers and staff from around the world joined Keystone, and founding families and students made the bold decision to enroll in this newly established school.
Over the past decade, hundreds of graduates from Keystone have moved on to higher education institutions around the world. Our graduates are courageously pursuing their dreams and interpreting the essence of a Keystone education in their communities using their outstanding abilities.
In the past ten years, the ideal of education has been practiced by countless individuals in the Keystone community.
Keystone is a school, but it is also a sample of the ideal of education in action.
We understand that ten years is a long way from truly realizing an educational ideal. However, for a young world school, ten years is a moment worth remembering and commemorating.
On this occasion of Keystone’s 10th anniversary, we want to anchor ourselves in time and slow down our steps, to look back on the 10 years we have shared, listen carefully to the initial call, and once again examine and reflect on the direction we are heading, starting out on an exciting new journey.
